"Splashdown"

Bronze is the perfect medium to portray animals in action because of its inherent structural strength and beauty. Ann`s technical know-how gained from her long association with Lugar Bronze Foundry allows her to push the medium structurally. She uses stainless steel armatures cast within her sculptures to provide support to dynamic pieces that often seem to defy gravity. Many of her cantilevered sculptures, such as "Splashdown," seem to be caught in time, a moment frozen between heaven and earth.

Ann continues to enjoy the production side of bronze artwork and makes her own rubber molds from her original sculptures. She then pours and chases the waxes necessary for the cire perdue (lost-wax) bronze casting process. She also sprues the waxes and chases the castings of her own bronzes whenever possible. After she applies and seals the chemical patina coloration, Ann chooses a fine hardwood, limestone, or marble base for each art piece.

Ann maintains very high standards of quality from the start to finish of each project by being integrally involved in the entire creative process...from concept to completion. She is a true craftsman as well as a talented fine artist.
