(A Tribute to the Goddess Epona, Guardian of Horses)

The ancient Gallo-Roman goddess Epona protectively cradles a foal in her arms.
Although Epona was primarily worshipped by Roman cavalry soldiers, grooms, and farmers whose livelihoods depended on horses, the connection between horses and women is stronger now than it has ever been in history. Epona represents that bond. Mind, body, heart, and soul are all engaged when sharing one`s life with horses. The significance of the goddess Epona continues to be valid to those many women in this age who find a deep sense of peace near horses.

On display from February 20, 2009, through April 3, 2009, in the "Images of the Feminine Divine:An Invitational Exhibit" at the Levy Gallery in the Buckman Performing and Fine Arts Center at St. Mary`s Episcopal School, Memphis, TN.

The hand-cast polyurethane resin bas relief sculpture with an aged silver finish floats above weathered wood triptych panels in a glass fronted 16" x 20" shadowbox frame made of matching barn wood. Multi-strand framing wire is secured to the back for hanging.

Also available as a traditional cast bronze bas relief.
