18th Annual Works of Heart Valentine Auction

Art With Heart

Once again I am pleased to have donated a work of art to the 2010 Works of Heart Valentine Auction sponsored by the Memphis Child Advocacy Center. Each year select local and regional artists are invited to create a heart themed artwork to be auctioned at a party hosted at the Memphis College of Art. Proceeds from this auction go directly to the Memphis Child Advocacy Center; an important agency that serves children who are victims of sexual and severe physical abuse. The MCAC helps "victims become children again".

This year I created a sculpted bas relief sure to please any cat lover. The piece is titled "Sweet Dreams" and depicts two napping cats. Their heads, paws, and upper bodies create a heart shape. The bas relief is hand-cast polyurethane resin with a bronze finish and "floats" in a contemporary black frame above a textured heart background that is painted bronze to complement the cats. This piece celebrates the comfort and contentment we all feel when we are close to those we love.
